All about wedding rings
Long gone are the days when wedding rings had to be limited to a simple band of gold. Innovations in techniques and crafting, changes in styles and trends have given us more opportunities to express ourselves with our own jewelry. And where better to do this than in the one piece of jewelry you hope to be wearing for the rest of your life.
Yellow gold
Gold is always yellow when found in its pure form and so yellow gold is a wonderfully classic choice for a piece of jewelry. Its warm tones contrast beautifully with crisp white diamonds and creates a dramatic look when paired with colored gemstones. When alloyed to 9 carat yellow gold it is a beautiful pale shade and when alloyed to 18 carat yellow gold is a brighter yellow color.
Rose gold
Rose gold is yellow gold alloyed with copper to give it a rosy shade, hence the name. It is incredibly popular and continues to be one of our most popular precious metals used in contemporary engagement and wedding ring designs. The 9 carat rose gold has more copper in it and consequently it is redder in color to the 18 carat rose gold which is a yellow-red shade and has a beautiful rich feel to it. Rose gold looks amazing when coupled with white diamonds as well as pink, peach and champagne colored gemstones. To create a dramatic contrast it can be set with smoky-grey or grey-green gemstones for a modern twist.
White gold
White gold is alloyed with other white precious metals to give it a modern white look. That being said it still retains warmth to it depending on the carat you choose; 9 carat white gold is warm and creamy whilst, 18 carat white gold is a darker color. It makes the perfect metal for anyone who likes white metal but doesn’t like the stark whiteness of platinum. It looks particularly good with blue, green, orange or yellow gemstones.
Mixed gold
Why have one shade of gold when you can have all of them? We have seen a rise in the popularity of using different shades of gold within a single design and the results can be subtle or dramatic depending on your taste. Despite the modern designs you can achieve with mixed metals, antique jewelry is often found to have been made from different colors of gold, often the band is formed from yellow gold and the stone settings crafted in white gold and this is something which is still popular today in vintage style designs.
At Goldiam
Wedding rings are made specifically to your design requirement. They can be created from sketches, photos and even from chatting through ideas with our Designer, Orit. But they can also be items from our models on our website that have been changed or tweaked from their original design especially for you.
GOLDIAM'S website will guide you through the process of personalizing your wedding ring style; building from scratch to create your ideal rings.
We start with the precious metal, Yellow Gold is traditional for wedding rings, its warm rich color improves with age and will not rust, tarnish or corrode.
If you prefer a white metal, then White Gold, is an obvious choice; We are introducing a range of Rose Gold rings which can be specially ordered by talking to one of our designer.
Once you have selected your metal, your next choice is all about the “bling”.  Would you like diamonds in your wedding ring?  This obviously will depend on your taste, and also your budget.  If you choose to stick with simple clean elegant band without diamonds, your next choice is about the rings profile.
The profile of a wedding ring is its shape; whether it has a curved or flat appearance on the inner and outer surfaces and flat or rounded edges. The shape can most easily be illustrated by cutting an imaginary line through the band. If an inner or outer surface is curved, then it’s known as a ‘court’. Flat surfaces are simply called that - ‘flat’ - as are the edges when they have a straight appearance.
Choosing a profile is mainly an esthetic decision. Courts ‘soften’ the look of the ring and a ring with a slightly rounded inner surface or edges is usually more comfortable to wear. Flat surfaces give a ring a more modern feel and are popular with men because they look more ‘masculine’ - for example, a wide, heavy ring with flat edges has an industrial look.
All our wedding rings can be ordered in a variety of widths, from very narrow (2mm) to very wide (8mm). Once you have chosen the width of your ring, you will see that all our wedding rings are available in three standard weights all of which impact on the price. So if you are limited by budget, stick to low or medium weight rings.
So far these choices have created a gorgeous plain band but you can personalize your ring even further.  We offer different “cutting styles” to help give your plain band and eye-catching design. The cutting style changes the look of the surface of the ring and there’s a style to suit all tastes. You chose and we create. The sky is the limit!
Feel free to come to us, GOLDIAM, and make your dream come true!
